As a child and teenager, I struggled with my weight and was forced to deal with several medical and physical issues.
At the age of 16, while attending a Performing Arts Boarding School, I was diagnosed with having dangerously higher than normal insulin levels. That very same year, I had gone to several medical specialists and was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Because my health conditions had gone undetected for so long, I also developed a skin condition called Acanthosis Nigricans, (AN) which caused areas of my body to be extremely dark and discolored in appearance. My physician and family realized that even with my hard work, dedication, and desperate attempts to lose weight, the combination of all these health conditions was a contributing factor to my inability to successfully lose weight. I was relieved that we finally had answers that explained why the various low calorie and low-fat diets just didn’t work for me.
Now, on to the solution!
By this point, my health was completely depressing and unbalanced. My doctor put me on many different diet plans only to be disappointed by the minimal results.While trying to lose weight, I had developed awful eating habits that led to starving and purging. Eating salads all the time and following a very low-calorie diet of 800 calories or less was unrealistic and just not going to happen. Next, I was prescribed medications to help manage my health conditions, which only made me feel sick and lethargic. I couldn’t take it anymore and knew there had to be a better way!
By age 19, I, unfortunately, weighed over 230 pounds. On my 5’1 frame that weight was obviously not healthy. What’s that saying you always hear? Information is power. Well, I’ve always had a love for information, knowledge and a natural talent for researching, hence my journey began. I realized that if I was going to lose weight, I would have it my way and take the past and present research I had done on my current health conditions and how food interacts with the body and put that information to test. I started experimenting with different combinations of foods to see if the selected food combinations enhanced my weight loss, slowed it down, or kept it the same. For the sake of science, I guess you could say that I used myself as a guinea pig (smile)!
After months of experimenting with different food combinations, I was actually starting to lose weight, a lot of weight, steady weight loss. Wow!I couldn’t believe that finally, I had created a weight loss system that allowed me to successfully and consistently lose 120 pounds in less than a year. Guess what? Not only did I lose weight, but my PCOS symptoms stabilized and the dark discoloration from the health disorder Acanthosis Nigricans disappeared!
Once friends and family members realized my 120-pound weight loss, they were stunned! They started asking me so many questions. What program are you following? What foods are you eating? Do you have any tips? Can you help me? They were inquiring so much that I couldn’t keep up with the demand.
In 2005, The Rennix Weigh was born to help others learn how to use nutrition as a process and not a consequence, which ultimately leads to living a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
