Nia’s Guacamole

Mexico is one of my favorite vacation spots.  Every time I’m there, I must try the various homemade versions of guacamole. While visiting Mexico this summer, I had the most amazing time at Loupe’s house. She is a local from Carmen de Playa. We spent hours talking and mostly cooking.  She showed me how she makes her guacamole. I explained to her what I do and that I’m all about transforming dishes into healthier options. She gave me some tips on how I can make my version of Guacamole even better.

Thank you, Loupe, for your tips and inspiration!

Servings: 4

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 garlic clove
  • ½ lime, the juice
  • 1 tbsp. sour cream
  • olive oil
  • ½ white onion
  • 5½ tablespoons fresh cilantro
  • 1 tbsp. oregano
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. Peel the avocados and mash with a fork. Grate or chop the onion finely and add to the mash. Squeeze the lime and pour in the juice.
  2. Add tomato, olive oil, sour cream, oregano, and finely chopped cilantro. Season with salt and pepper and mix well.
